Ellipsometric analysis of isothermally devitrified metallic glasses

Effects of devitrification in metallic glasses are particular interest for their utilization various applications as the phase transformation from amorphous to crystalline state is known significantly change properties. In this work, we study effect on optical properties using spectroscopic ellipsometry technique. Ellipsometry measurements isothermally crystallized samples at controlled temperatures between glass transition temperature and crystallization revealed characteristic dependence complex index refraction temperature, suggesting an effective approach which can be prospectively used characterization structural changes during devitrification. The crystallinity devitrified was verified a combination differential scanning calorimetry X-ray diffraction measurements. • Dispersion relations were investigated.
